Welcome to Class 2!
In Class 2 we are learning about Cold Weather around the world this half term. We will be keeping weather diaries and celebrating the Cumbrian weather through poetry and art. We will be exploring the extreme cold weather conditions of the Arctic and Antarctic and learning about the wildlife that survives there. The children will have weather vocabulary mats to talk about at home and weather diaries to fill in.
Last term lots more children in Class 2 were taking part in the School Reading Raffle because they were reading at home at least three times a week. This term it would be fantastic if everyone in the class could enter the raffle on Fridays.
The following are activities that can be recorded in a child’s reading record at home: reading a few pages from a school book, reading / sharing a book from home, practising reading and writing sounds and green or red words that are sent home in book bags.
This term Year One pupils will have a short list of weekly spellings to practise at home. These will go home on a Monday and will be assessed on a Friday.
This term we will be going swimming on Tuesday afternoons and Action Ants are with Class Two on Friday afternoons!
Please ensure that your child’s PE kit is in school until half term and that they have a water bottle with fresh water in daily. As the school field is quite muddy at this time of year all the children need to have a pair of wellies to wear at playtimes.
Our Class topic web will be sent home with the vocabulary homework this week.
Happy New Year!
