Welcome to Class 2!
In Class 2 this half term we are learning about 'How plants Grow.' We will be planting lots of seeds and learning about how seeds grow from poems. In art and DT we will be making our own pots using recycled materials and looking at Van Goph's Sunflowers. We will be using money to develop our counting, addition and subtraction skills. Our role play area will be turned from a hospital and a farm into a busy supermarket! This half term we will be having expert tennis coaching with a specialist from The Eden Valley Sports Partnership on Wednesday mornings.
The Reading Raffle takes place every Friday during Good Work Assembly and children who have read three times at home over the week will be entered. The following are activities that can be recorded in a child’s reading record at home: reading a few pages from a school book, reading / sharing a book from home, practising reading and writing sounds and green or red words that are sent home in book bags.
This term Year One pupils will have a short list of weekly spellings to practise at home. These will go home on a Monday and will be assessed on a Friday.
Please ensure that your child’s PE kit is in school until half term and that they have a water bottle with fresh water in daily.
Our Class topic web is on the class noticeboard for further information. Next half term we will be looking at Mini Beasts and planning a class trip which links plants, mini beasts and money! Details to follow after the half term.
Happy New Year!
